The following are awards, recognition and honors handed to members of the Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron’s leadership for their outstanding efforts in leading the way toward patient-centered innovation in Northeast Ohio.

- Dr. Frank Douglas, ABIA President and CEO and members of ABIA Board Named to Who’s Who in Crain’s Celeveland Business. Dr. Frank L Douglas, president and CEO of the Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron was named to the “Who’s Who in Business” list published by Crain’s Cleveland Business. He is one of 150 names to know in Northeast Ohio–people who are leading the region into the future.Other individuals named to this year’s list are William Considine, president and CEO of Akron Children’s Hospital and Chair of the Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron Board of Directors; Jay Gershen, president of Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED); Luiz Proena, president of The University of Akron and Thomas Strauss, president and CEO of Summa Health System.
- Dr. Frank Douglas, ABIA President and CEO named to Crain’s 10 People who Matter. Dr. Frank Douglas, president and CEO of the Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron was named to Crain’s Cleveland Business’ 2010 top 10 People Who Matter.
- Dr. Frank Douglas, ABIA President and CEO named 2010 “Rock Star” of Science. Dr. Frank Douglas, president and chief executive of the Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron, was honored in GQ Magazine’s “2010 Rock Stars of Science” as one of the nation’s leading medical researchers. The promotion was a collaboration among Geoffrey Beene Gives Back, GQ and the Entertainment Industry Foundation. Douglas was one of 17 scientists recognized in the spread, which also featured musical celebrities.
- Dr. Frank Douglas, ABIA President and CEO named to IBMag Power 100 of Greater Akron. Dr. Frank L Douglas, president and CEO of the Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron was named to IBMagazine’s Power 100: Greater Akron list, which identified Northeast Ohio’s most influential leaders of the year.
- Dr. Frank Douglas, ABIA President and CEO honored by Guyanese and American Business and Professional CouncilDr. Frank L. Douglas, president and CEO of the Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron, was honored on June 24th, 2010 in New York City by the Guyanese and American Business and Professional Council Inc. (GABPC) at their “Green Gala”; the GABPC’s 3rd Annual Business Awards Dinner Gala which was held to promote climate change and global warming, to emphasize the fact that Guyana and the United States are connected by more ways than international trade, and to honor three environmental activists.Dr. Douglas was selected, and honored for his contributions to innovation and to the City of Akron. He was awarded for his leadership and success in improving innovation and productivity in pharmaceutical companies.
