The Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron’s Center for Community Health Improvement, in response to the nation’s need for a collaborative and shared approach to community health, is leading the effort to usher in a new health culture in the Akron region by developing an Accountable Care Community (ACC), a new health model which aims to foster collaborations borne of shared responsibility among various sectors in order to transform health in Northeast Ohio.

Accountable Care Community
The Accountable Care Community process is an entire community approach to coordinate efforts to reduce the impact of chronic disease and empower patients, leading to increase productivity and lower healthcare costs. This approach to public health works to bring diverse groups of public and private partners working on an “all hands on deck” method.
